We hit up Intel’s launch party this afternoon to check out some more next-gen Centrino Duo goodness and much to our surprise we came across a pair of fresh-outta-the-oven small form factor PCs that plan on borrowing features from the new mobile platform.
First up is AOpen’s new Mini PC Duo (MP965), which uses the 965 GM chipset and houses one of Intel’s new Core 2 Duo processors. It’s not a Centrino system (because it uses the Viiv platform and doesn’t pack any battery-saving features), but it does have the option for built-in wireless. It’ll come out this summer ranging from $999 to $1499. Likewise there’s this Viiv-based system from the folks at Niveus which is set to launch Q3. There was no pricing on the latter, but looks-wise, Niveus’ system looks right at home in any living room, especially since it’s packing an HD DVD drive. – Louis Ramirez

It’s a strange pehnomenon, we talked about the HTC X7500 for so long that it felt like the real product could never actually exist. But Boy Genius Report got their well-manicured fingers on a real model and stripped it down slow tease style for us all to enjoy.
Hit the jump for our favorite shots. And if that’s still not enough, you could visit their site since they went through all the trouble. We’re not the jealous types.
Slut.

Chalk up this device as another convenient way to get rid of all of those cords under and on top of your desk. This box has 10 power outlets inside and plenty of room to stack all of the spare cords. Feed the power end out the front and juice up all of those devices. Despite what the picture shows, the box is only available in beige and goes for $55. –Travis Hudson

When we last showed you the Nexus Psile Quiet Media PC, we didn’t have a whole lot of additional information about it, but now it has your choice of Intel Core 2 Duo processors inside and is readily available in the US at prices starting at $1599. We like the designers’ attention to detail with this unit, keeping it as quiet as possible with an external fanless power supply, a fanless copper CPU cooler, a quiet hard drive and a positionable silent 80mm fan.
Beyond that, its clean shape lends itself to design modifications. Nexus makes it easy, offering a variety of perfectly fitting stickers that can be attached to the PC’s case, and also Photoshop and Illustrator design templates that you can modify to your liking. Create your design using that template, send the file to Nexus and it will make you a custom skin to stick onto your Psile. You can even customize the color of the LED pilot light. Neat. – Charlie White

The wait felt like an eternity, but it appears the first CableCard-friendly PCs are ready to roll. Velocity Micro’s top-of-the-line Grand Theater systems are “100 percent” and shipping this week while the Pro Cinema systems will ship a few days behind. While other companies have announced Vista MCE boxes with CableCard certification, these will be the first to actually to hit the streets. Let’s hope they’re worth the wait. – Louis Ramirez
