It’s Friday, you’ve been swimming in a sea of iPhone news… so what’s better to distract you than this amazing vid. It’s a demonstration of the joys of non-Newtonian liquids (look ‘em up: amazing things), showing exactly how they can confound your expectations. In this case it’s a cornstarch fluid on a metal sheet on a subwoofer, behaving as if gravity is optional. Try it yourself: add cornstarch to water until it just gets to a “weird” state, and then play. Fun hey? It doesn’t take long for kids to learn that when it comes to Tic Tac Toe “the only winning move is not to play.” But there’s something iconic about the game that means it keeps coming back. And designer Shahar Peleg has crafted such an unusual version I’d be tempted to pop it on my desk: it’s mirrored, so the pieces are halved until you place them on the grid. Not as high-tech as

I have to hand it to Erik Nordenankar and DHL for devising what has to be the most creative fusion of art and technology to date. The concept was simple but brilliant: place a GPS device in a briefcase and mail it via DHL with precise travel instructions over the course of a 55 day period. When all was said and done, the GPS data formed a virtual self-portrait of the artist that spread over 6 continents and 62 countries covering nearly 70,000 miles.
The next version of Photoshop (CS 4) will be juicing up performance by taking advantage of hardware it hasn’t tapped before: 
The Xtand is a solid aluminum stand that not only holds your iPhone when your hands have better things to do, but does so in that “I’m an aluminum stand that looks like an iMac stand” kind of way. It’s 100% fanboy gear, but we have to admit, the 360-degree rotation and cable management system (aka hole in the back) actually look kind of convenient. No word on price at this time.
