What it does
Dipity, short for serendipity, is a timeline making app. You can make up a timeline of anything, from your favorite band shows, to the decline of the American economy. To start out, you do have to register which takes a matter of seconds. Follow that by hitting the ‘Create Event’ button and you are set. A whole slough of different types of media—Google maps, links, photos, videos, feeds, etc—can be pulled in to make your timeline dazzle, and once it’s complete, your timeline is embeddable on your own site or profile. You can easily focus in on each element for more info, and you can even zoom out on a whole time period. Furthermore, Dipity supports profile feeds from Twitter, Yelp, and Flickr, among others, which means you can create a lifestream.
In their own words
“Dipity is the easiest way to make and share interactive timelines about the people and things you care about.”
Why it might be a killer
Dipity allows users to create interactive and in depth timelines, unlike any other. These aren’t your normal, static timelines with little media interaction. They can be used to for developing a media lifestream where your friends can keep tabs on what you’re up to. Dipity is pretty simple to use, and it’s has an elegant presentation.
Some questions
The timeline making category is getting more and more crowded. Just how does Dipity plan to stand out among the rest? The site could use a more detailed explanation of how to add elements.

What it does
TaffyDB is an open source Javascript library for your browser which acts as a thin (under 10k) data layer inside Ajax applications. It’s got sorting, looping and advanced query capability. It works with simple Javascript centric syntax and it’s compatible with most major Ajax libraries, including, YUI, JQuery, and Dojo. Using Taffy you can easily create collections passing in an array of similar objects. You can implement find functionality as well as updates. You can insert, delete, and query against the data layer. Taffy isn’t visual so you will still need to code the user interface; however using Taffy does reduce the amount of code you will need. The download is available for free.
In their own words
“Taffy DB is a free and opensource JavaScript library that acts as thin data layer inside Web 2.0 and Ajax applications.”
Why it might be a killer
TaffyDB is like having an SQL database in your browser. It works well for Ajax apps and it’s light—under 10 kb. It also integrates with other libraries.
Some questions
How well does this work?

Why it might be a killer
This is an accessible fashion community designed specifically for European fashionistas. Noteworthy features include the fashion map and the outfit snapshots which detail price and purchase store of each item worn. It’s a not too shabby start.
Some questions
For a fashion site, it lacks a certain style. The design isn’t as coherent and attractive as it could be. There’s no allure, which is crucial for a site like this. It would be nice to see customizable profiles, a separate section for designers, and perhaps forums for discussing various fashion topics.

SignOn is an identity management service. It allows users to easily log into OpenID enabled websites with one unique identifier—something along the lines of jill.signon.com. Thus your URL becomes your sign on. The site goes further in offering information cards—essentially digitized versions of those in your wallet. These are stored on your computer; one card works with multiple sites. The cards are grouped by an Identity Selector, software which allows you to created and organize all your Information cards. It’s free to install. Creating a card requires that you fill in your name and email address and register it on your account. Once that’s done, it will be attached to your Signon account. Additionally, you’ll be given an optional public profile which can be ended and adjusted among with settings on your account page.
In their own words
“SignOn.com is a free OpenID identity service secured with Information Cards. Our sole mission is to provide individuals with complete control, security and privacy of their Internet identity.”
Why it might be a killer
This negates the need for memorizing multiple log-ins and passwords. Users can access all their favorite sites without having to fill out forms and fields. OpenID is gaining acceptance throughout the net.
Some questions
Is there any screening done to prevent ID abusers? Will users take to it? Can it replace traditional user accounts? What about security and privacy issues?
